Summer Clergy Program
All members of our parish family realize that additional priests are necessary to attend to the sacramental needs of our extended parish family during the summer months of the tourist season (Memorial Day thru Labor Day). To address this issue the parish purchased an oceanfront condo in 1999. Admittedly, we jokingly refer to it as "ecclesiastical bait" since many clergy would like to have a vacation at the beach but can't really afford it during the summer tourist season.
In order to have priests to assist us during the tourist season, we offer them, at no charge, the use of the condo. All we ask is that they celebrate three Masses each weekend they are with us. (We have had priests stay as long as four weeks.) Since they are on vacation, we ask nothing more. Our clergy guests arrive on a Monday afternoon and leave on a Monday morning. This timing allows us to prepare the condo for our next visitor.
At other times of the year, we welcome our brothers to use our facilities for personal retreats or off season getaways. Since these are not our prime times we do ask, if you choose not to help on a weekend, a small fee to pay for utilities and maintenance. (Believe me, it is really small!)
If you are interested in being part of this program, please call our pastor, Fr. Terry Collins, at 910.270.1477. Should he not be in at the time you call, please speak with our office manager, Mrs. Diana Oddo, who will refer you to the person responsible for scheduling the use of the condo.
If you choose to accept our offer, once you have set a date with us, you will need to send your celebret at least two months in advance to our Vicar General to obtain the necessary faculties. His address is:
